Native American choreographer Rosy Simas (a member of the Seneca tribe) has been creating and teaching dance for 18 years. Rosy has trained, presented work and taught dance in Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York, San Francisco and Montréal.
Rosy is a bodywork therapist and movement educator who works with dancers, athletes and others. She integrates her extensive knowledge of the body in motion into her bodywork and somatic therapy.
Rosy trained with internationally known movement educator Barbara Mahler (Re-Education: Klein Technique) since 1994, and has been an ongoing pparticipant in the Mahler teacher-training program.
Rosy began her work with movement education as a teacher of dance, a personal trainer and as director of a well known Native American health and wellness program. Wanting to incorporate more holistic and somatic perspective into her work, she completed 1,450 hours of Global Somatics (Somatic Movement Education/Therapy) and Body-Mind Centering® study with Suzanne River.
Rosy went on to become a ABMP-certified bodywork therapist and has completed more than 600 hours of shiatsu and massage training at Centerpoint Massage and Shiatsu Therapy School.
In addition to continuing to teach dance, she complements her bodywork practice by offering regular classes/workshops in Body Re-Education/Alignment Training.
